Established in 1998, the Hirsch family recognised the incredible potential of their cool-climate estate and transformed it into a benchmark for premium, estate-grown wines that balance character, craftsmanship, and value.
Our wines showcase the best of what our vineyard and facilities can produce, cool-climate precision, varietal clarity, and consistency across every vintage. Each bottle is made with the same purpose: to reflect the land it comes from and the people who craft it.

A legacy envolving, a wine refining

In 1998, Eddie Hirsch purchased a picturesque property in the Yarra Valley, inspired by a vision of breeding and racing Thoroughbreds. His brother Jack Hirsch joined him in supporting and developing the venture.

The Hirsch family planted their first vines in 1998, and by 2001 their passion and care produced the first Hirsch Hill vintage.

Hirsch Hill grew in confidence and recognition, expanding into commercial wine sales across the Yarra Valley and Melbourne. The next generation combined vision and skill to drive the brand’s growth.

Rosie strengthened Hirsch Hill’s commercial presence, cementing its reputation for quality wines, while Jack expanded the vineyard acreage, laying the foundations for future growth and recognition.

A new chapter began when Ben Hirsch became General Manager, bringing fresh energy and sales-driven strategy to the business. One of his first major moves was internalising winemaking, leading to the appointment of Chief Winemaker Peter Mackey in 2022.

Hirsch Hill completed its first vintage with Peter Mackey, embracing small-batch winemaking. An old horse stable was transformed into a functional winery, marking the start of a new era. That same year, Hirsch Wine Group refreshed its brand, modernising the two-trees logo to reflect its commitment to excellence, authenticity and distinction.

Hirsch Hill’s acquisition of a historic Yarra Valley winery, once home to Sticks and Greenstone, marked a major milestone. After renovations and new equipment, the upgraded facility now supports flexible winemaking for both Hirsch Hill and its client partners.

Today, the business has evolved into Hirsch Wine Group, reflecting its expansion across several brands, and winemaking, bottling, and storage services. The company continues to grow under the leadership of Ben Hirsch (CEO) and Peter Mackey (Chief Winemaker), supported by a skilled team including winemakers, laboratory staff, cellar hands, and operations professionals. Together, they drive innovation and uphold Hirsch Hill’s enduring reputation for excellence.

The Hirsch Hill team continues to uphold the values and legacy of Hirsch Hill, deeply committed to maintaining high-quality standards in their work.
